How To Make Restaurant Quality Pizza At Home
Second post!!!!!!! So last time I shared with all of you my favorite food, mac and cheese, so fittingly I had to do pizza next :) Today I will be showing you my favorite easy and delicious pizza recipe. No, it is not completely homemade, but yes, it is delicious.
INGREDIENTS:
I chose to go with a Trader Joe’s theme, but feel free to use whatever brands you want, or even make your own ingredients.
The necessities:
Pizza dough
Can use any type or brand. All will work well!
Pizza sauce
Can be any type. I used Rao’s Vodka sauce as well.
Cheese:
I prefer mozzarella, but use whatever you like!
A pizza stone
I cannot stress how important this is. Without a pizza stone, it is impossible to get crispy crust.
Parchment paper and pizza peel
To use between the pizza stone and pizza
Flour
We need flour to roll out the dough to keep everything from sticking
Rolling pin
To roll out the dough of course
Any other toppings
Go crazy! This is your pizza. Make it your own
STEP ONE: ROLL OUT YOUR DOUGH
Around 30 minutes before you want to start making your pizza, take your dough out of the fridge and pre-heat your oven to as high as it will go (I cooked mine at 550 f). Make sure to pre-heat your stone in the oven as well.
Once your dough is at room temperature, get your surface ready by putting lots of flour down. This will make sure the dough doesn’t stick.
Roll out your dough from the middle outwards, trying to make the dough even throughout. If the dough starts to push back, let it rest for a few minutes.
The key to this recipe is making the dough as thin as possible without making it too big that it won’t fit on your pizza stone. If you like your dough thicker, feel free to roll out your dough less. You also want to make sure the dough isn’t too thin so that it won’t be able to hold the toppings. Balance is key!
STEP TWO: PLACE YOUR TOPPINGS
Make sure to top your pizza on top of a piece of parchment paper. Start by applying a thin layer of sauce on top of your dough, making sure to leave space around the edges. This space will ensure you have that nice crispy crust.
Next add your cheese and any other toppings you want!
FINAL STEP: COOK YOUR PIZZA!!
Once you have topped your pizza, it is time to put it in the oven!!!!!!
Place your pizza on top of the pizza peel, carefully sliding the pizza off and onto the stone. Leave it in the oven for around 8-12 minutes until it looks golden around the edges. Now this is the most important step: turn on the broiler. This step will give your pizza a nice crisp around the top and edges. Once it’s cooked to your liking, use a pizza peel to transfer it to some tin foil to cool. Wait a few mins to cut it. Enjoy!
